Wood Jewelry Boxes

The only way to ensure that your precious jewelry items will exist tomorrow is to store them properly in one of the many beautiful jewelry boxes available in the market today. Choose from gorgeous wood veneers, eclectic wood combinations, and designs by expert artisans.

Different Woods to consider:

  • Cherry Wood- Also known as American Cherry, is a fine-textured hardwood that comes in black (Black Cherry) and red, brown, or deep red (Heartwood Cherry). Americans have grown and cultivated Cherry for furniture making since 1629.

Black Cherry, also known as wild cherry and rum cherry, is light-pinkish in tone, finely-grained, with a satiny texture. It ages in time, deepening in color to a beautiful rich color, and is replacing the more traditional oak as a favored wood for furniture. Cherry is light sensitive and moderately durable.

Stains will also change the look of the wood: for instance, stained black, Cherry wood would seem a rich velvety-black. A mahogany stain would add an intense, deeper color of red, and a polish with put a brilliant gloss on it.

  • Oak- Throughout antiquity, the Oak Tree has symbolized power and strength. To the ancient Celts, the Oak was sacred, and in Greed mythology, the Oak was a symbol of the lightning god Zeus.

    • Red Oak- This oak is pinkish-red in tone, a hardwood also know as American Red Oak. It is not used as often as the White, because it is not as hard or durable.
    • White Oak- The White Oak is the most prized among furniture-makers for being durable and strong. Also known as American White Oak, it has a lighter, more aesthetically pleasing color, and is moisture-resistant.
    • European Oak-Also known as French or English Oak, this coarse, straight-grained wood is often pale brown in color.

An oak jewelry box is a great bet if you have children around the home. It weathers and ages gracefully, and can withstand more than other, softer woods.

  • Exotic woods: Specialty woods or exotic woods are available for those looking for someone looking for something a little different. Some examples are: Koa, Lacewood, Brazilian Rosewood, Butternut, Pink Ivory, and Blood wood. Finishes such as the mahogany gloss, the high gloss piano finish, and the Ebony gloss finish put a magnificent shine on any wood.

Wood Jewelry boxes can easily be personalized for a special occasion- there are a wide array of businesses who will handcraft them for you. Be sure to know which shape you desire, as well as what type of wood, and whether you would like the box detailed with a personal design, stamped with a family crest, or inlaid with a picture.
